Bus 9010 bids you welcome from the bus bay at Conestoga Mall, so welcome to the Kitchener Transit Photo Gallery. Here you shall find (we hope) tons of pictures on this interesting Southern Ontario bus system.
An Orion model turns off of King Street onto Gaukel, on its way to the Kitchener Transit Centre. Kitchener City Hall is in the background. Buses here have to navigate a steep hill and a narrow street, but the drivers do it all admirably.
These five shots were taken during a trip to the Kitchener Transit bus garage. A variety of models are sheltered in this modern facility located on Strausburg Road, north of Ottawa Street. The garage is the centre of operations for all of Kitchener Transit, even featuring the agency's head offices.
At the garage, a GM MCI/Classic poses with a representative of the latest generation of the low floor Flyers...
Bus 755 (received in 1975) waits at the garage, displaying a 9 LINCOLN rollsign. The Lincoln branch of route 9 disappeared from regular service some time ago, replaced by an extension of the route 12. Like the branch, bus 755's days may also be numbered. Note the old-style livery.
Here is the back end of bus 770. Note the single rear-exit door. Since 1977, the Kitchener Transit standard appears to have changed to double rear dooors, and solid (not glass) back-ends...
...as seen here. Bus 9003 shows off its beer advertisement.
Here's a shot of a bus on the 14 Waterloo Industrial rush-hour route. It ventures into some very interesting territory, some of which many Kitchener Transit patrons don't get to see. A sign of this line's character can be seen in the sign across the street -- how many buses travel on designated 'rough roads'?
Low Floor Flyer 9412 turns off of Ontario Street south onto King Street. Kitchener's downtown transit centre is located a block away from Kitchener's main street, but streets such as Ontario and Gaukel provide easy access.
A GM MCI bus runs out of service along Ontario Street, northeast of King Street. Service on this street used to be provided by the Victoria Hills bus, but changing customer demands pulled this portion of the route south to Market Square...

More photographs will be posted as we scan them in. So please come again soon!
