The Unofficial Kitchener Transit Historical Web Page
Welcome to an unofficial web page on what used to be Kitchener Transit. This web page was created as a fan site for the storing of interesting information and photographs relating to Kitchener Transit. Now that the Region of Waterloo has been given the responsibility for transit in the area, and Kitchener Transit has been merged with Cambridge Transit to form Grand River Transit, this page has the added significance of logging a fallen flag among transit circles, as well as following an exciting new player on the public transit scene.
We are citizens of Kitchener who have no connection with Grand River Transit whatsoever, except for the fact that we're transit fans. This web page is being designed simply because we think it would be fun and of interest to you, the reader. Thus, you should not contact us if you have a complaint against Grand River Transit, or need official information from them. We have included their contact information, however, so you can reach them yourself.
We would like to thank representatives from the former Kitchener Transit, though, for their kind assistance and support of this web page.
This page is under construction, so if it looks a bit sparse to you now, please check back in a few days to see what additions we've put on. And there will be additions...
Latest News
March 1, 2000: Kitchener Transit is no more. On January 1, 2000, responsibility for public transit was transferred from the lower-tier municipalities to the Region of Waterloo. This means that Kitchener Transit and Cambridge Transit have been merged into a single organization called Grand River Transit. The new colour scheme is nifty, and on September 2000, the long-desired transit link between Kitchener and Cambridge should start operating. And while we're updating the content of these pages, why not update the look? Taking a page from Transit Toronto, we've fixed up the appearance of this website and have opened it up to a wider mandate.
October 16, 1999: We've fixed a couple of broken links, and have spruced up the pages slightly, in preparation for more photos in the future. Life's obstacles have been keeping us from updating this page as often as we'd like, but we'll get around to updating it, we promise.
September 4, 1999: As you can see, we've moved to Xoom and belong to WWWaterloo. After a long period of inactivity, this change should herald further changes to this page, including more photographs, and perhaps even an additional transit agency or two.
Please remember that this page is unofficial, and therefore you should not use this as an official source for route, fare or additional services information. This information should be obtained directly from Kitchener Transit's Official Web Page, or by calling Kitchener Transit at (519) 741-2525.
